On Fri., July 11, 2014, Judge Genece E. Brinkley sentenced Meek to three-to-six months in jail for failing to secure permission to set up out-of-town concerts and give his probation officer a phone number that worked. These two things were violations in the terms of a five-year probation he received after being arrested for gun and drugs charges in 2008. For his initial sentence, Meek spent eight months in jail, but having to deal with his probation proved to be an obstacle that would never go away.
